The idea of Sussex as an affordable fee levying private school network is to teach the government syllabus in English Medium. A holistic approach to education with expert tutelage, creative freedom and inspiring innovation is the key to molding our students from core to advanced knowledge preserving the cultural and traditional values. We encourage an interactive student teacher classroom environment to fuel the student's curiosity and enhance self-discovery. We also firmly believe in inculcating intellectual awareness, cultural diversity and a sense of responsibility towards the community, in our student's mind. It is of utmost importance for us as mentors, to empower and expose every young mind with the ocean of possibilities and the diligence needed to achieve them. The school is focused to instill in them that every challenge is worth it and one must work with compassion to overcome apprehension and fear to achieve their goals. The school wishes every child discovers their true potential and builds a better tomorrow for our community.

About Sussex Network

This idea got off the ground when founder Mr. K.A.S. Jayatissa, the Chairman of the Sussex Educational Services Ltd set up the first college which was declared open on the 22th January 2004 at Jambugasmulla, Nugegoda where his own son and daughter were among its first batch of 80 students.

Winning the hearts of the people soon it grew into a large network of 20 colleges spread throughout 8 provinces in the island by 2009. Presently, the college network has 6,000 students, and around 700 teachers. Children at Sussex learn in English Medium in an environment conducive for character building based on Sri Lankan cultural and religious values. It is a joy to witness our colleges celebrate Sinhala–and Hindu New Year and Wesak as much in the same spirit as Christmas, Thaipongal, and Ramadan.

Such values are further cemented by having the respective mother tongue and religion made compulsory for all children with a choice of a link language that ensures communal harmony. They have a choice of subjects such as French and English Literature in addition to aesthetic and sports as other compulsory co-curriculum pursuits. We are in the forefront of teaching mathematics, science and commerce and also have arrangements in place to coach our students who desire to take up London O/L and A/L examinations as well.

Every college in the network is well equipped with science and computer labs and also exposes our children to learning with computers from Grade 1 upwards so that they become familiar with the innumerable opportunities of access to new knowledge and skills to be leaders capable of facing the challenges of the 21 century global village. Sussex has been awarded ISO certification together with National Productivity Awards thrice in recognition as a leader in quality education in Sri Lanka and recently Sussex College Network won Business Excellence Award.
